Letters & Introductions

Between 1999 and 2000 a number of letters, photos and emails were sent between the British and Polish families. Below are copies of the original letters and translations.

Every time I read these letters I can’t quite believe what every day people like my grandfather and his family went through during the war. The first letter between my grandfather and his brother is particularly moving and the simple matter-of-fact nature way he describes  photo No. 8 is pretty poignant. It kind of reminds me of a modern day Facebook statement.

“No. 8 This is me again just after I’ve been rescue from concentration camp”

This is the first letter sent to Mieczyslaw from his brother Henryk after 60 years.
