A Family Separated

The war was a great upheaval for the whole family, being forced to move and separate across countries and continents. This made tracing family more difficult as records were lost or in disarray. Both brothers joined the army and fortunately came back alive and established new families across Poland.

1945

In 1945 the family was forced to leave their home and moved to Dobiegniewo, near Gorzów Wielkopolski. Scholastyka never gave up hope in finding her son and worked hard to save money for Mieczyslaw just in case he came back.

1951

Stanislaw joined the army and later became an officer, where he served in the marines until 1971.

1952

Stanislaw went to Darlowo where he met and married Maria. It was here that Scholastyka later moved and eventually died.

1958

Stanislaw moves to Kolobrzeg on the baltic coast.

  1. Hello, my name is Pedro I’m from Brazil, more specifically in a southern state called Paraná. Here in my state there is a city called “Prudentópolis”, where Ukrainian immigrants came fleeing wars. One family of these immigrants were the Brojeks and one of their daughters is my grandmother. Her name is Dorvalina Brojek and she has told me her family story a few times. She says that her parents were Poles who went to Ukraine, but because of the war they had to flee and came to Brazil, but before that happens she doesn’t know much, just a few facts about Ukraine and speak Ukrainian.

I’m so happy to have found this blog that tells a little more about my family’s history! I would like to contact you to find out more about my ancestors. This is my ig: _pedrao_
